My first degree and career was working in recording and radio studios. After 10 years, I needed a change, and chose audiology because it makes use of everything I already knew about electronics, acoustics and how people perceive sound. I have been an Audiologist since 1991. My biggest thrill is when patients tell me their life is better because we improved their hearing. And I still work with musicians to help protect their hearing and hear better onstage.
Jill Durkee Schaefer, M.A.Jill Durkee Schaefer grew up in Northern Ohio and attended The Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing Science in 1996, and a Master of Arts degree in Audiology 1998. She went on to work at a small medical center/ Ear,Nose, &Throat practice in Minnesota, and then for a large hearing aid manufacturer doing technical support. Jill joined us the beginning of August, 2010. She works half days at the Rocky River office Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and the Independence office on Fridays.
